comedy of errors
we’ve got the Education Review Office people at school this week - today was my observation which hopefully went well … just like a comedy of errors really …
here’s a snippet of what happened when i was reading a book to my class who are all sitting on the mat (7&8 year olds)
Scene 1 (before i start reading)
“W - put whatever you’re chewing in the rubbish bin”
W goes to rubbish bin and returns to mat
Scene 2 (about three paragraphs into the story)
“W - you’re still chewing - go and put whatever it is in the rubbish bin”
W goes to rubbish bin and returns to mat
Scene 3 (another few paragraphs into story)
“W - why are you playing with the thing you were chewing and supposed to have already put in bin? Go and put it in the bin NOW!”
W goes to rubbish bin and returns to mat
Scene 4 (yet another few paragraphs into story)
I look up to see W poking his tongue in and out to C who is doing his best to ignore W
“W - that’s not what we do on the mat - go and sit at the back!”
W goes and sits at the back, facing the wall, with his back to me
“W - turn so you can see and be a part of this”
W turns around so he can see
Scene 5 (a few more paragraphs into story)
I look up to see that W is still chewing.
“W - put it into my hand NOW!”
W puts it into my hand.
I continue reading the story!
